Curly Girl Australia-
Rëzo Certified Artist

I'm Maryanne Kourouche and I'm the Founder of Transition Emporium and Curly Girl Australia.  To your left is a picture of me with the amazing Nubia Suarez the founder and developer of The Rëzo Cut. I am currently the only hairdresser in Sydney to have made this trip to Manhattan New York to have hands on training in cutting and colouring in curly hair.

What an amazing woman Nubia was and what an inspiration she is.

At Transition Emporium we are passionate about curls. We have created a special package that enables you to learn and grow with your new curly hair style. Once your appointment is over you leave a different person to the one that came in. Strong confident and excited. We promise that.

My Story

When you first get diagnosed with cancer your first thought is I haven't done what I wanted to do.

So I did.  As soon as my chemo and radiation treatment was over I knew I was going to go.

I jumped on the first plane I could and went to meet the amazing Nubia Suarez. I look back at that photo and realise how sick I still was. It does make me embarrassed but truth be told I can't sit around and not fight. I am now Rezo cut and Rezolites Certified and couldn't be prouder to have flown to New York and learnt from the best.

Curly Girl Australia - Rëzo Accredited Stylist

It’s funny how people are always envious of someone else’s hair. Those with straight hair want curly hair and those with curls want straight.

Why do people think if they wear their hair curly no one will take them seriously in the cooperate world?  Curls are part of who you are. You are not less worthy of success because you have curly hair and NO
you don’t need to blow it out or have it relaxed to fit in or be taken seriously.

Once you have had an appointment with us at Transition Emporium and we teach you how to style your hair and WHAT to do and WHY you do it, your curly journey will change forever.

Maryanne Kourouche is an accredited Rezo Stylist and was trained by Nubia Suarez herself in Manhattan New York and upon her return she started to fill the gap in the hairdressing industry.

                                     Questions we hear in salon

Does a Rëzo cut mean I have to cut my hair short?
No a Rezo cut is a curly cutting technique created to optimise elevation, volume, shine and no frizz.

Can any hairdresser give a Rëzo cut?
No Maryanne Kourouche flew to Manhattan New York and was hands on trained by the founder of the Rezo cut Nubia Suarez. To be able to do a Rezo cut you must be accredited.

Is Rëzo only a cutting academy?
No because Maryanne Flew to NY City she is also certified in Rezo lites, which is the colouring technique created to partner with curly hair.

Will I know how to do my own hair after I leave that salon?
Yes in our sessions we go through how to cleanse the scalp and how to hydrate the hair leaving it shiny and frizz free. You will leave your session a completely different person to the one that came in. You will leave feeling educated and in control.

Do you have products I can buy and take home with me?
Yes of course. We can help you with a customised essentials pack for you to buy so you can replicate what we did for you in salon.

How often do I need to have a Curly cut/Rëzo?
Everyone is different but most curly girls are back within 3 to 4 months. 3c hair and tighter generally go longer. We generally book appointments every 5 to 6 months. With treatment appointments in between.

Can I have a treatment for my curly hair without having to cut it?
Yes, treatments are encouraged often. Potentially every 4 to 6 weeks. Deep cleansing treatments every 10 to 12weeks.

Is a Rëzo/Curly cut for men as well?
Of course, a curly cut is just that, a curly cut. Anyone with curly hair can book in with us and have a curly cut.
